Cody Rhodes reveals his ultimate goal in WWE returning to WWE Raw

Cody Rhodes opened this week Monday Night Raw With his first promo since his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 last weekend. He began hinting at his departure from AEW, saying that the decision to return to WWE was an easy one and that any doubt he had about his return was all but eliminated when he stood on the entrance ramp in front of 77,000 at AT&T Stadium. He then showed everyone a picture of his father, Dusty Rhodes, holding the WWWF Championship at Madison Square Garden in 1997 after defeating Superstar Billy Graham by count.

He revealed that his father at the age of eight explained why he didn’t get the championship, which made Cody his mission one day to take the title and give it to Dusty. Rhodes said that while his father was gone it was not his dream and that he would be the WWE Champion.

Seth Rollins then arrived, welcomed Rhodes back and shook hands with him before Rhodes’ music could be sung. The former TNT champ looked somewhat bemused as Rollins walked away. It’s worth noting that Rhodes never mentioned Roman Reigns, the man who now holds the Universal WWE Championship, by name during the promotion.
